Barton Seagrave Festival of Music presents
RUSHDEN TOWN BAND
Saturday, 9th May 2020 at 7:30pm
St Botolph's Church
Tickets: £10 general / £8 Under 16 (non-allocated seating)
In 1120-22, Geoffrey de Clinton is recorded as having built on the current site of St Botolph’s in Barton Seagrave, a church with Norman architecture. There may well have been an earlier building on the site, but we can be sure that by 2020, there will have been a Christian presence in Barton Seagrave for at least 900 years. So, to celebrate 900 plus years of association between church and community, there will be a series of special activities and events throughout 2020. We are calling this series Festival 900+.
These Festival of Music concerts constitute one part of Festival 900+. There will be six concerts during the course of two weeks in May 2020 (8th – 20th), each showcasing a different genre of music – Fiori Musicali performing Vivaldi’s Four Seasons plus vocal interludes (not sold through Oundle Box Office), Rushden Town Band playing music we know and love with their own special style, Reflections Strings playing popular light classics, The Frenchman Street Jazz Band playing Traditional Jazz at its best, The Rutland Wind Ensemble performing a varied programme including the beautiful Petit Symphonie by Gounod, and finally Chris Bannister whose tribute act to John Denver is one of the best there is.
