During the early days of World War II, with the fall of France imminent, Britain faces its darkest hour. As the threat of invasion looms, the fate of Western Europe hangs on the leadership of the newly-appointed Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. While manoeuvring his political rivals, he must confront the ultimate choice: negotiate with Hitler and save the British people at a terrible cost, or rally the nation and fight on against incredible odds. This is the dramatic and inspiring story of four weeks in 1940 when Churchill’s courage changed the course of world history.

‘Gary Oldman carries off a tremendous performance here, and it’s impossible not to enjoy it.’  Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

We are delighted to announce that Benedict Allen, one of the world’s most renowned adventurer-explorers, will be coming to Oundle as part of his brand-new tour of the UK.

Benedict Allen will tell the whole unvarnished truth of his most recent adventure – a solo expedition to Papua New Guinea, during which he filmed his journey to visit a community he had befriended thirty years earlier – when he hit the headlines after failing to turn up for a flight to Hong Kong, prompting his friends and family, and eventually the world media, to become    concerned for his wellbeing.

Benedict will recall the highs and lows of this awe-inspiring trip, tell exhilarating tales from his life as an explorer and show never-before-seen material from his travels across the globe.

‘Part of history of television’ – Mark Thompson, Former Director General, BBC

Although Origami may seem to be an unlikely medium for understanding and explaining the world, fine artists and theoretical scientists are abandoning more conventional career paths to forge lives as modern-day paper folders.

Between the Folds chronicles ten of their stories, opening with three of the world's foremost origami artists - a former sculptor in France, a scientist who walked away from a physics career, and an artisanal papermaker working with the material which he makes from scratch.  Folding a simple blank, uncut paper square emerges as a resounding metaphor for the creative potential for transformation in all of us.

Working backwards from the 1930s, the FB Pocket

Orchestra explores repertoire that formed the embryo of

what is now known as popular music.

The members originally began playing together simply as

an exercise in exploring heritage repertoire, taking on a few

informal performances and recording dates as schedules

allowed. The FBPO became an ‘official’ project in the spring

of 2012 and released its first album in October.

The orchestra presents a contemporary slant on popular

acoustic music from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

“Atmospheric, yet vibrant, this charming collection of songs

will make you wish you had been born some 100 years ago.

The style, glamour and ‘fabulousness’ of this era is captured

beautifully on the album.” Claire Anderson, Jazz FM
