Oundle Classic Bike Rally
Entry fee: £10
Registration at Oundle Wharf: from 11.30am
50 mile route departs Oundle Wharf at 12.30pm
25 mile route departs Oundle Wharf at 1.30pm
Arrive at Barnwell Country Park: 4.00pm approx for judging at 4.30pm
Parade back to Oundle Wharf: 5.30pm
Bike enthusiasts are invited to join the rallied throng and show off their prized classic bikes (and perhaps their outfits to match!). Choose between two routes (of 25 or 50 miles) through the delightful Northamptonshire countryside and explore the lanes and beautiful villages with like-minded participants. The rally will set off after a quick lunch at the renowned Tap & Kitchen for those who want it and return to Barnwell Country Park to join the brass band extravaganza (see above) during which well-deserved prizes for the best turned out bikes and riders will be presented. A processional ride through the town back to Oundle Wharf will bring this wonderful event to a close.
Two charities have been chosen as the beneficiaries of the proceeds of the event.
The first is Alzheimer's Research UK, having lost a parent to this horrendous condition and watching the vibrant personality disappear before our eyes, this charity seems a laudable recipient. Hopefully a cure will be found soon.
Secondly The Cure Parkinson's Trust, having had a couple of friends have this debilitating condition and then learning of a local cyclists plight fighting this illness, we decided that supporting Tim Daber in his challenge to raise £100,000 would be a great way to split the funds. However we need you all to sign up for the event.
Numbers are limited to 150 so get registration in soon!

Pack up the hampers and champers and join thousands of loyal fans for an exceptional afternoon and evening of entertainment at the 14th annual Burghley House Battle Proms Concert.
Enjoy a full 2 hour programme of captivating classical music from the 60 piece New English Concert Orchestra, led by Douglas Coombes MBE and compered by much-loved BBC presenter Pam Rhodes. The extensive programme of entertainments also includes toe-tapping vintage vocals, breathtaking Spitfire display to Elgar’s Nimrod, sensational freefall demonstration by The Red Devils parachute team, dramatic WWI cavalry display, and groundshaking live fire from over 200 cannons!
In a stunning setting overlooking the grand Elizabethan architecture of Burghley House, this quintessentially British ‘party in the park’ features magnificent musical firework displays, culminating in a flag waving, sing-a-long spectacular including all the ‘last night of the proms’ finale favourites such as Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.
The Battle Proms is still believed to be the only opportunity in the world to see their signature piece – Beethoven’s ‘Battle Symphony’ – performed as he composed it: with 193 live firing Napoleonic cannons providing a thunderous percussion!
The Battle Proms team are delighted to announce that in 2018 they will be supporting SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity, who provide lifelong support for our Forces and their families, whenever and wherever they are needed. Since 2004, through audience donations and contributions from concert profits, the Battle Proms events have raised over £330,000 for military charities.

Acclaimed jazz vocalist, Atila, and his stellar group of musicians have wowed packed audiences in London’s Hippodrome and Ronnie Scott’s, with their unique tribute to one of music’s all-time greats. Featuring many of Nat King Cole’s most loved songs, including Nature Boy, Unforgettable and When I Fall in Love, alongside stylish re-workings of his lesser-known gems, their show celebrates one of the defining voices of the twentieth century and uses music, narration and archive footage to take a fresh look at the life and work of one of the most iconic vocalists of all time.
Atila rose to fame as a vocalist for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra before being asked to tour the world’s top jazz venues with the legendary Buddy Greco. He makes regular appearances in London’s top iazz venues and collaborates on recordings and live performances with some of the UK’s most highly regarded musicians.
“I was knocked out by Atila. He has the voice and the class to show the world what great music is all about.” Buddy Greco
