Written and performed by Luke Wright

We all want something to believe in. It’s 1987 and Frankie Vah gorges on love, radical politics and indie stardom. But can he keep it all down?

Following the multi-award-winning What I Learned From Johnny Bevan, Luke Wright’s second verse play deals with love, loss and belief, against a backdrop of scuzzy indie venues and 80s politics. Expect frenetic guitars, visceral verse and a Morrissey-sized measure of heartache.

Written and performed in deft verse by Fringe First & Stage Award for Acting Excellence winner, Luke Wright.

Alison Weir Talk: Anne Boleyn, A King’s Obsession

Friday, 26th January 2018

19:30 - 21:00

In this richly illustrated talk, bestselling historian and novelist, Alison Weir, will shed light on the relationship between Katharine of Aragon and her rival for the King’s affection, Anne Boleyn. Fresh from the sophisticated palaces of Burgundy and France, Anne draws the attention at the English court and embraces the play of courtly love. But when the King commands, nothing is ever a game. She has a spirit worthy of a crown - and a crown is what she seeks. And so she embarks on her perilous course, which will plunge a kingdom into turmoil.

Alison Weir weaves new research and theories into the dark, powerful tale of Henry VIII’s second wife - a woman ahead of her time, who dared to question traditional concepts of femininity, and whose ambition drove her to gamble with the fickle nature of a dangerous king.

There will be a book stall and at the end of the evening Alison will be signing copies of her two recent novels, Anne Boleyn, A King’s Obsession, and Katherine of Aragon, the True Queen.

Tickets: £12 adults, £10 under 16s (including a glass of wine or soft drink).

6.00pm A Tudor-style Pottage & Ale Supper

The 13th century Knights’ Chamber is the atmospheric setting for a supper before Alison Weir’s talk. It will be accompanied by re-enactors and attendants in Tudor costume.

TICKETS: £48 per person, includes drinks and a reserved seat for the 7.30pm talk by Alison Weir. £36 for supper only. For more information or to book visit www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk/143/section.aspx/142/pottage2018 or call 01733 452336.
