Fletton Way, Glapthorn Rd, Oundle, PE8 4JA
Narrator: Willem Dafoe
Description: Robert MacFarlane
Director: Jennifer Peedom
Runtime: 1hr 13min
Collated from more than 2,000 hours of footage shot in 15 countries, Mountain is a 70-minute white-knuckle ride: a safari into the sublime, a vertiginous voyage to the top of the world providing astonishing vision of mountaineers, ice climbers, free soloists, snowboarders, wingsuiters and parachuting mountain bikers. With accompanying music from the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the film’s adrenaline-charged footage reveals mountains as places of stately splendour and perilous exposure, including Alex Honnold’s heart stopping free climbing and Danny Macaskill’s stunning bike ride over the Cuillin Ridge on Skye. Director Peedom seeks succesfully to convey the allure of mountains, and the increasing pressures that they face.
‘One of the most visceral film essays ever made.’ The Hollywood Reporter
