Director: Andrea Luka Zimmerman
Release: 2015
Runtime: 1hr 23 min

A deeply moving portrait of a community in East London living on the Haggerston Estate - built on land that was originally part of the estate of the astronomer Edmond Halley, later demolished and recreated in the 1930s as a model housing estate for London’s working class. The estate’s constituent blocks are named after characters from Samuel Richardson’s Clarissa. The film mixes lyricism, literary recreation, gritty realism and music. It is poignant and real, deeply felt and important... a paean to survival, dignity, solidarity, a paean to a community in the face of erosion.

‘An enthralling and uplifting celebration of the resilience of humanity in flux.’ Andrew Kottin

A comedy about best friends, Conor and Jock, two inner-city teenagers from Cork. Jock is a legendary bike thief who plays a daily game of cat and mouse with the bike-theft-obsessed Garda Sergeant Healy. When a drug-trafficking boat capsizes off the coast of West Cork and 61 bales of cocaine, each worth seven million euros, are seized, word gets out that one bale has disappeared. The boys steal two bikes and go on a road trip hoping to find the missing bale which they can sell so as to escape their troubled home lives...But Sergeant Healy is in hot pursuit.

‘It's the most perceptive comic portrait of the adolescent male since The Inbetweeners, but with a naturalism that is unexpectedly disarming.’ Wendy Ide, Observer

N.B. There is a typo on p.3 of the Cinema brochure where it states that this film is on Thursday, 18th October. It should state Thursday, 19th October. Apologies for any inconvenience.
