19:00 - 21:00, The Cloisters at Peterborough Cathedral
Before Zorro, Batman and Superman there was ... The Scarlet Pimpernel! With original songs, spectacular sword fights and a little bit of romance, there is something for the whole family to enjoy in this exciting and swashbuckling musical adventure.
Paris, 1792. A league of young English gentlemen of unparalleled daring are risking their lives to rescue the French nobility from the guillotine. They leave no trace behind except a note from the 'Scarlet Pimpernel'.
However, the ruthless spy master Chauvelin is determined to stop the rescuers by fair or foul means and, desperately outnumbered, the Scarlet Pimpernel and his men must use all their wits to evade capture and stay alive.
- Will they succeed and escape France?
- Who will rescue the rescuer?
- And who is 'The Scarlet Pimpernel'?
Please bring a blanket or low backed chair and maybe a picnic to enjoy this exciting open-air production in the Cloisters of Peterborough Cathedral. There will be an interval of around 20 minutes and refreshments will be on sale.
