Director: Kirsten Johnson
Runtime: 1hr 43min
A boxing match in Brooklyn; the daily routine of a Nigerian midwife; an intimate family moment: these are just a few of the scenes woven into the award winning Cameraperson, a tapestry of footage that is the result of the twenty-five-year career of documentary cinematographer Kirsten Johnson. Through a series of episodic juxtapositions and extraordinary camera work, Johnson looks at the tension between objectivity and the intervention of the camera. It is a film that combines documentary, autobiography and ethical inquiry, thus providing a moving glimpse into one film-maker’s personal journey.
