Mozart                        Overture - The Marriage of Figaro

Richard Strauss        Oboe Concerto

Beethoven                Symphony No.3 'Eroica'

Our first visit to Oundle in the autumn includes Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony Eroica. A few years back the BBC asked over 100 of the world’s most well-known conductors to name their three favourite symphonies. This was their clear top choice! We are also playing the Oboe Concerto by Richard Strauss – a late work, commissioned by a young American soldier who met the elderly composer in Germany at the end of the Second World War. On this occasion though we are very privileged to be joined by Tim Rundle, principal oboist with the Philharmonia Orchestra. The concert opens with Mozart's well known overture from The Marriage of Figaro.

Good access to the church. Also disabled access toilet facilities availble in the church. Please note that whilst the attendance of wheelchair users at the concert is welcomed, it would be helpful to have advance notice of their coming so suitable places can be prepared in advance to better cater for them.
